DESCRIPTION

The Assistant Kitchen Manager oversees the customer service-related activities of the cooking class staff and maintains kitchen organization and cleanliness. This is a full-time supervisory position, managing a team of 25-30 class Assistants, Chefs, and Dishwashers.

Responsibilities

  • Assists in managing the hiring, onboarding, and training of cooking class Assistants and Dishwasher staff

  • Acts as point of contact for personnel issues for support staff

  • Oversees staff scheduling

  • Maintains storage systems for and inventory of class equipment

  • Maintains strict standards for the kitchen organization and cleanliness

  • Verifies that sufficient tools are on hand and that all class equipment is in working order

  • Oversees class set up and clean up, stepping into support class staff as needed

Qualifications

  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written

  • Superior organizational skills and attention to detail

  • Ability to problem solve

  • Exhibit strong initiative and ability to work independently

  • Able to consistently provide high level of customer service

  • Previous management or HR experience a plus

  • Previous experience working in a commercial kitchen

  • ServSafe Certification required within first month of hire

Preferred but not Required

  • Culinary degree or commensurate culinary education experience.
